Mara has given talks at venues including: the Committee on Foreign Relations, Talks at Google, the Harvard Club, the East-West Center, the American Enterprise Institute, the National Asian American Pacific Bar Association, the Shanghai International Literary Festival, the Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers, and at world affairs councils and civil society groups throughout North America. She is also a frequent speaker at academic institutions. She has presented on her work at Johns Hopkins University, the University of California-Irvine, the University of Minnesota, University of Wisconsin-Madison, University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, New York University, Yale University, and her alma mater, Swarthmore College.
